Final Update on Jefferson City Meeting
Everything is in place
for the committee's spring meeting in Jefferson City on
June 27-28. Briefing packets will go out later this week to
all attendees. Please make sure to bring the packet with you
because we'll have only limited copies available at the
meeting.
Meeting attendees have
the option of participating in two optional
activities. The first is a group outing for dinner on
Tuesday, June 26, from 6:30-8:30. We'll be dining
at the Summit Lake Winery across the river from
Jefferson City. Each individual will be responsible for his or
her own costs.
The second activity is a
tour of the capitol building on Wednesday, June 27, from
6-7 p.m. There is no cost for the tour.
If you would like to
attend either or both events, please call or e-mail Lisa
Janairo by the end of this week.

TEC/WG Comes to the Midwest
Kansas City will be the
site of the next meeting of DOE's Transportation
External Coordination Working Group (TEC/WG). The meeting will
take place on July 24-25, with an optional tour of the
Union Pacific rail yard on July 26. One highlight of
the meeting will be a session featuring statements from
and Q&A for Ward Sproat, director of DOE's Office of
Civilian Radioactive Waste Management (OCRWM), and James
Rispoli, Assistant Secretary for Environmental
Management (EM). Attendees will also participate in breakout
sessions to discuss OCRWM's national transportation plan
and EM's upcoming shipping campaigns. In addition,
four of the topic groups will meet in Kansas City. OCRWM's Corinne
Macaluso will give a briefing on the proposed policy and
procedures for implementing Section 180(c), provided the
program has published its Federal Register
notice before the meeting. The tour and the
greater balance between EM and OCRWM topics are among
the improvements DOE made to the draft agenda in
response to feedback from the regional groups in the
Midwest, West, and Northeast.
Committee members who
serve on the topic groups will be reimbursed for their
travel expenses if they choose to attend the TEC/WG
meeting. In addition, states that receive WIPP funding can use that
funding to cover their time and travel. CSG Midwest
might be able to reimburse the travel expenses for other
committee members. If anyone is interested in attending but does not
have funding available, please contact Lisa
Janairo.

Help Schedule the Fall Committee Meeting
As our spring meeting nears, it is time once again
for the commitee to think about scheduling the fall
meeting. Last week Sarah sent out an email to
committee members asking for potential open
meeting dates in the October - December
timeframe. If you have not already done so,
please fill out the form below and fax it back to Sarah
(630-925-1930) or click on the link to an online
survey. Please do one or the other before
June 21st. We will discuss the
results and schedule the fall meeting while in Jefferson
City. Please note that this request is for
committee members only.
