to provide input into and feedback on DOE's transportation decisions and plans. Below are supporting materials

180(c) Topic Group:
Midwestern representatives: Kansas, Michigan, Wisconsin
Status: the
Midwest provided comments on the 180(c) Federal Register notice issued
in July 2007. The Topic Group is currently waiting for DOE to make plans for the 180(c) pilot project.

Rail Topic Group:
Midwestern representatives: Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska
Status: since September 2005, the Rail Topic Group has been working in subgroups to address specific topics. The subgroups are listed below.

Status: the group finished revising the checklists and reference forms and handed them off to the FRA State Rail Safety Participation Program Managers to revise and implement.

Status: the next conference call is on April 15, 2008 at 1 pm central.

Status: the group finalized the rail planning timeline in August 2006. They will reconvene as needed to review and revise the document.

Routing Topic Group:
Midwestern representatives: Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Ohio
Status: the group met at the February 2008 TEC meeting. At that meeting
the group decided to allow the railroads to develop a set of routes from the Standard Problem sites. The group will use the
railroads' set of routes as input into the standard problem exercise.
