Michael
H. McCabe is the director of the
Midwestern Office. He is responsible for managing the staff, providing
secretariat services to the
Midwestern
Legislative Conference and all other
association duties. Before serving as director, he was the assistant
director for six years. He holds an undergraduate degree in political
science from Iowa State University and is a graduate of the University
of Illinois College of Law. He is a member of the bar in Iowa and
Illinois.
Tim
Anderson is the office's publications manager and edits
Stateline
Midwest and
Firstline
Midwest, the publications of the Midwestern Office. His state assignments are
Nebraska
and Michigan.
He holds undergraduate degrees in journalism and education from Butler University,
and a master's degree in political science from Northern Illinois
University.
Cindy
C. Andrews is the assistant director for marketing and administration for the
Midwestern Office. She is responsible for supervising the administrative staff, coordinating office work flow, conducting
budget analyses and developing marketing strategies. She also acts
as lead host state contact for the
Midwestern Legislative
Conference Annual Meeting. Her state assignment is
Illinois.
She holds a bachelor's degree in behavioral science from National-Louis University.
Ilene
K. Grossman is the assistant director for planning and development for the
Midwestern Office. She manages the 12-state Midwestern
Governors Association and she staffs the
Midwest-Canada
Relations Committee for the Midwestern Legislative Conference. Her state assignments are
Indiana and
Iowa.
She holds an undergraduate degree in political science from Drake
University and a master's degree in American Government from
American University.
Jesse
Heier is the director of the
Midwestern
Governors Association Washington, D.C. office. He staffs the
MGA Staff Advisory Committee. He holds an interdisciplinary undergraduate degree in communications, legal institutions, economics and government from American
University and a master's of health science degree from the Johns Hopkins University.
Lisa
R. Janairo is a senior policy analyst. She staffs the Midwestern
Radioactive Materials Transportation Project, funded by a
cooperative agreement
with the U.S. Department of Energy. She also coordinates the
activities of the Midwestern
Radioactive Materials Transportation Committee, which
works with DOE to develop a federal system for transporting
radioactive waste. She holds an undergraduate degree in geology
from Lawrence University and a master's degree in public policy
from the University of Chicago.
Laura
Kliewer is a senior policy analyst. She staffs the Midwest
Interstate Passenger Rail Commission. She is also in charge of
planning the business program for the Midwestern
Legislative Conference Annual Meeting. Her state assignment is
Kansas.
She holds an undergraduate degree in political science from the
University of California-Los Angeles and a master's degree in
communications from Wheaton College.
Emily Marthaler is a Policy and Communications Specialist for the
Midwestern Governors Association
Washington, D.C. office.
Emily received undergraduate degrees in political science and economics and a master’s degree in political management from The George Washington University.
Daniel Stenberg
is a Policy Analyst/Meeting Coordinator with
the Midwestern Governors Association
Washington, D.C. office. Daniel attended Jamestown College where he received undergraduate degrees
in Business Administration and History/Political Science,
and is currently pursuing his MBA at The George Washington University.
Laura
A. Tomaka is a senior program manager and staffs the MLC's
Economic
Development Committee of the
Midwestern Legislative Conference. She also serves as the Midwestern Legislative Conference's program coordinator for the
Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development (BILLD).
Her state assignments are Ohio
and North
Dakota. She holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Old Dominion University and a master's
degree in political science from Loyola University Chicago.
Kate
Tormey is a policy analyst and assistant editor. She works on CSG’s regional publications,
Stateline Midwest and
Firstline Midwest. She also staffs the MLC’s Health and Human Services Committee. Her state assignments are
South Dakota and
Wisconsin. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
